Voicemeeter software mark

System status / signal integrity

What the installer does — and does not

Voicemeeter is local Windows audio software with kernel virtual drivers. This page states how the product is distributed, what it does not do, why antivirus may react, and what you remain responsible for when you route or record audio.

Install packages live on the download page. Common questions sit in the FAQ. Step-by-step fixes are in the setup guides.

Policy

Use Voicemeeter in line with your local laws and the license terms shipped with the installer. The mixer is a general-purpose audio router. It does not grant rights to record calls, streams or meetings without consent where your jurisdiction requires it.

License model Donationware with publisher EULA in installer
Recording others Follow consent rules in your region
Redistribution Do not repackage installers without permission

Conduct

Ethical usage statement

Voicemeeter is built for creators, broadcasters, gamers and teams who need clean routing on one PC. Ethical use means routing only audio you control, respecting party privacy in voice chat, and not using the mixer to bypass DRM or intercept protected streams.

  • Disclose when you record a live session if your community expects it.
  • Do not present processed voice as a different person to deceive callers.
  • Keep VBAN streams on networks you administer; treat LAN audio like any other media on your wire.

Publisher

Source and transparency

Voicemeeter is published by VB-Audio Software, based in France. The product line is donationware: full function without upfront payment, with optional license support after an evaluation window. Potato adds an activation-code step tied to donation.

Distribution Donationware desktop installer (ZIP)
Network requirement Offline after install; LAN only for VBAN
User data collection Publisher claims none during normal mixer use
Country of origin France (publisher headquarters)

Clarification

No-malware clarification

Voicemeeter is not designed as spyware, adware or cryptomining software. Its core job is to mix audio and expose virtual devices. The installer registers signed audio drivers so Windows can route playback and capture through the mixer.

If you obtain a modified repack from an unknown mirror, integrity guarantees no longer apply. Use the packages listed on this site, compare SHA256 checksums when published, and run setup as administrator once.

Antivirus

False positives on virtual drivers

Kernel-level virtual audio drivers behave like other low-latency sound interfaces. Heuristic antivirus engines sometimes flag them until reputation databases catch up. This is a known class of false positive for audio driver installers, not proof of malicious intent by itself.

Symptom Quarantine or block during setup.exe or driver load
Likely cause Heuristic on new or rare kernel audio driver
Recommended action Verify checksum, allow trusted installer, reboot, confirm devices in Sound settings

Disclaimer

User responsibility

You choose which apps send audio through Voicemeeter, what you record, and what you transmit over VBAN or streaming tools. The publisher does not monitor your sessions. Misconfigured routing that leaks music into a mic, or recordings shared without consent, remains your accountability.

This site summarizes public product behavior for voicemeeter.app visitors. It is not legal advice. When in doubt about recording law or workplace policy, consult qualified counsel or your IT department.

Routing matrix

Matrix view illustrates internal routing only. It does not send data off your PC unless you enable VBAN to another machine on your LAN.
